Why Install a Home EV Charger?
Convenience
Never visit a gas station or public charger again. Charge overnight in your own garage or driveway. Wake up to 100% battery every morning.
Speed
Level 2 charging is 6x faster than a standard outlet. Add 30 to 50 kW of range per hour instead of 8 kw with a regular 120V outlet.
Cost Savings
Charge at off-peak rates. Ontario's time-of-use pricing means cheaper electricity overnight. Save hundreds per year vs. public charging.
Home Value
Increase your property value. EV chargers are becoming a must-have for homebuyers. Get ahead of the curve.
Future-Ready
Prepare for your next EV. Even if your current EV has limited range, a home charger prepares you for future vehicles.

Common Questions About PCH Electrical
Do I need a permit?
Yes, EV charger installation requires an ESA electrical permit. Paul handles all permits and inspections for you.
Will this increase my electricity bill?
Yes, but it's much cheaper than gas. Expect $30-60/month for typical driving. Charge overnight in Ontario for the lowest time-of-use rates.
Can I use my dryer outlet?
Technically possible, but not recommended. A dedicated circuit is much safer and ensures consistent, reliable charging without overloading your system.
How long does installation take?
Most installations are completed in 4-8 hours. The power to your home will only be off for about 2-4 hours during the panel work.
Can you install outdoors?
Yes, Paul regularly installs outdoor-rated chargers with proper weather protection to withstand Canadian winters.
Do I need to upgrade my panel?
Most 200-amp panels can easily handle an EV charger. If you have an older 100-amp panel, Paul will assess it and advise if an upgrade is needed.
What if I get a different EV later?
Level 2 chargers work with all EVs. Depending on the brand you switch to, you may just need a simple adapter (like a Tesla to J1772 adapter).
